ACHIEVEMENTS - WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

INTERNATIONAL AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

• May 2015: FIAP Ribbon (International Level competition- Honourable Mention) in the JCM Print Circuit, Bombay.

• September 2017: Received My First Star Rating from The Photographic Society Of America In The Nature Division.

• December 2020: Certificate of Merit in the Universal Image Circuit, Saudi Arabia Judging, organized by India.

• April 2021: Received My Second Star Rating from The Photographic Society Of America In The Nature Division.

NATIONAL AWARDS

• May 2014: Won the First place in the wildlife category and qualified as one among the top 8 photographers in Bing's National Level photo contest "The Big Shot" by Microsoft.

• October 2014: Special Mention award in the National Level Photography competition, 'Click Your Pic' (birds category) by Environment Conservation Group, an NGO in Coimbatore. 

 

GENERAL AWARDS

• March 2012: Awarded the Sri Appu Rao’s Prize for the Best photographer of the year in college (M.O.P Vaishnav College, Chennai).

• October 2012: ECO AWARD for budding wildlife photographer and conservator by Nature Conservation Society, an eco NGO in Coimbatore.

• October 2013: Best Alumni Achievement award from M.O.P Vaishnav college, Chennai as part of the bi-cennitial celebration.

• March 2017: "Twitcher Click" - Women Achievers' Award for Bird Photography by Rathinam College and Lion's Club International in Coimbatore.

• March 2018: "Woman Wildlife Warrior Award" for Wildlife Photography and Conservation by Tamilnadu Forest Deparment, Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Sathyamangalam.

• March 2019: "Kovai Wonder Woman"  for Wildlife Photography by Indian Express and PSR Silks, in association with Prozone Mall in Coimbatore.

STATE AND DISTRICT AWARDS

• November 2007 and 2008: 2nd place for 2 consecutive years in the "Spot the Bird" interschool competition organised by SACON, Coimbatore.

• September 2009: 3rd place in the District level Intercollegiate NBR Life photography competition conducted by PSG arts, Coimbatore.

• November 2009: Honoured by CUCKOO (an NGO) for my work in a village near Dharmapuri amidst the tribal children of that locality.

• January 2010: 3rd place in the State level intercollegiate photography competition conducted by Jai Garodia Institutions, Chennai.

• August 2010: 2nd place in the District level intercollegiate Flipper Fest photography contest conducted by Tamil Nadu Forest Department in Chennai.

• October 2010: Consolation prize in a wildlife photography competition by The Hindu and Savithri photo house, Coimbatore (open category, no age bar).

• September 2011: 3rd place in the Intercollegiate Wildlife photography competition by MCC, Chennai.

• February 2012: 3rd place in the State level intercollegiate photography competition conducted by Jai Garodia Institutions, Chennai.

• March 2012: 1st place in the intercollegiate photography contest held at Decimus (annual event) by the Department of Communication MCC, Chennai.

EXHIBITIONS:

My images have been displayed in many exhibitions organised by NGOs of Coimbatore like OSAI, Cuckoo and Nature Conservation Society year after year since 2007. As a member of Photographic Society of Madras, few of my photos were chosen and displayed in the members’ section of the National Salon 2011.

The Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park has selected a few of my photos for their publications. Nehru College for Arts and Sciences and Shri Sakthi Engineering college displayed my images to create awareness among their students about wildlife in 2014.

SEMINARS

• Conducted a seminar for 200 school children in 2012 as a part of a painting competition organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII- Hyderabad branch) in Chennai.

• Conducted a seminar for the students of the visual communication department of M.O.P Vaishnav College, Chennai about bird photography in October 2014.

• Conducted a seminar for the students of the visual communication department of Loyola College, Chennai about birds and wildlife photography in August 2024.

• Conducted a seminar for the students of LV Prasad College, Chennai about birds and wildlife photography in August 2024.

CONFERENCES

• Attended 2 Global Birdwatchers’ Conferences in Gujarat. First in November 2010 (Jamnagar) and the second in January 2014 (Ahmadabad).

• Attended the 2nd International Conference on Indian Ornithology- Ecosystems services and Functions of Birds in November 2013 by SACON in Coimbatore.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

• Completion of a certificate course (intermediate level) in Ornithology, from the Rishi Valley Institute, Andhra Pradesh in 2011.

• One among the top 20 in the National Level contest called Youth for Clicks by Saevus (India’s premium wildlife and natural history web portal).

• Participated in a Wildlife Photography workshop by Mr. Sudhir Shivaram and Serai in November 2014. Received the Certificate of Excellence for capturing great images that was displayed in a National exhibition in October 2014.

• Invited as a Chief Guest as a part of the Women’s Day Celebration at Rathinam College in Coimbatore in 2017.

• My photo was one amongst the shortlisted entries and displayed in an exhibition called ‘Contemplate’ in Coimbatore.

• My photo was accepted and shortlisted for the finals in the Photography Competition by Times of India: A day in India.

• My photo was among the top 20 shortlisted entries in the State level Intercollegiate Photography Competition by SSN College, Chennai.

• Invited as a Special Guest as a part of the Wildlife Calendar Launch by NCS at Clusters Media College in Coimbatore in December 2024.

I was featured in media like The Hindu-Metroplus, Deccan Chronicle, The Indian Express, The Times Of India, Dinamalar, Dinathandi, Dinakaran-Pengalukaaga, Dinamani-Kondattam, Kalki, Punnagai Ulagam magazine, Aval Vikatan, Nam Thozhi, Diwali Malar, Puthiya Thalaimurai, Akkam Pakkam and Kungumam for the recognition of my photographic skill.
